It is believed that the Arena could accommodate 20,000 spectators. It was built from local limestone. In the Middle Ages, the Arena was used for knightly tournaments and fairs. Today, concert spectacles and film festivals are held in the Arena.

Along the West Istrian coast there are several groups of islands, among which the most interesting, largest and most separated is the Brijuni group of 14 islands, islets and rocks. The total area of the Brijuni National Park is 3395 hectares.
The story of Brijuni begins in Roman times. Brijuni quickly developed into an imperial residence surrounded by rich, cultivated vineyards and native olive trees. Emperor Vespasian was one of the most active users of this country resort.
A major turning point in the development of Brijuna, thanks to the famous Austrian magnate Paul Kupelwieser at the time, who bought Brijuna and decided to turn it into a wonderful country place that can boast of unique flora and fauna.
Among the Brijuni game that you will certainly be able to see from the air are fallow deer and axis deer as well as mouflons. These species were introduced to Veliki Brijun at the beginning of the 20th century as hunting game, and today they are part of Brijun’s identity and the overall visitor experience.
