As part of the international tourism business fair and conference WESTM 2021 and the Belgrade Tourist and MICE Forum held on November 24, 2021, the winners of the Tourist Prism statues and charters in the action “For new quality in tourism” were announced.
This year, the jury decided to award only nine awards in the action “For new quality in tourism”, which best speaks of a very strict selection and the intention to keep the action at the same high level as before.
Two Tourist Prisms are coming to Croatia, and the winners in the agency category are CROATIA OPEN LAND TOURS from Karlovac and the Istrian Municipality of Vižinada in the destination category.
Awarded by categories:
In the category – Eco and ethnic tourism, the jury awarded two PRISM. One ZORNIĆA KUĆI from Baćevac in Serbia and the other to the royal ethno village KOTROMANIĆEVO in Ritešić near Doboj, BIH.
In the category – Organizers of travel and events, the award went to the company CROATIA OPEN LAND TOURS from Karlovac, Croatia.
In the category – Wellness & spa centers and hotels, PRIZMA was awarded to SUNCE hotel in Sokobanja, Serbia.
In the category – Congress centers and hotels PRIZMA belonged to MEDITERAN HOTEL & RESORT in Budva, Montenegro.
In the category – Destinations, tourist boards and organizations, PRIZMA was awarded to the MUNICIPALITY OF VIŽINADA in Istria, Croatia.
In the Small Hotels category, the award went to the MAIVA hotel in Ohrid, North Macedonia.
In the category – Restaurants PRIZMA was awarded to GOSTILNA PRI LOJZETU, Vipava, Slovenia.
In the category – Supporting services in tourism, the award was given to the company GOLD TRAVEL in Podgorica, Montenegro.
In the category – Business events and manifestations, PRIZMA went to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was awarded the LUKAVAČ FAIR OF TOURISM AND ECOLOGY LIST in Lukavac.
The specificity of this action is that it is led by tourism journalists from the countries of the region, as good connoisseurs of events on the ground. Namely, journalists who are members of the jury are the only proposers and decision-makers about the awardees. The jury is headed by the editor of the Tourist Prism, Đorđe Mihajlović, and among the members of the jury “For new quality in tourism” are the president of tourism journalists of Slovenia, Drago Bulc, Dario Novalić from Sarajevo – editor of Start and BH travel magazines, Radmilo Bumber, editor of the show “Food for the Soul”. and Karin Mimica from Croatia, editor of the Gastronaut portal and president of the Association of Tourism Journalists at the Croatian Journalists’ Association. From the very beginning in 1997, the guiding idea was to raise the level of tourist services and stimulate innovative ventures in the tourism industry.

Croatia Open Land Tours DMC is a destination management company that has been raising the tourist offer of central Croatia to a new level for seven years. They are the holders of the “Sustainable tourism through social entrepreneurship” project. Their offers are created in cooperation with local family farms, small farms, wineries, restaurants and accommodation facilities, as well as municipalities and tourist boards. By educating all stakeholders and creating attractive tours, they contribute to the revitalization of rural areas in central Croatia. By strengthening social entrepreneurship, the existence of the local population is raised to a higher level, and the population is not forced to look for work in larger areas, but participates in increasing the tourist offer of the region and raising awareness of the importance of the quality of originality. They create offers individually and combine rural tourism, active vacations and interpretation of cultural heritage.
Their offer includes, for example: Encounters with rivers; Green Gastro & Wine; Rafting safari ride through the center of Karlovac; 4×4 off-road safari; A different weekend at Mrežnica; Riding a grain boat and a whole series of other designed tours, as well as the possibility of adapting them to the wishes and affinities of the participants.
