Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest, largest and most visited Croatian national park.
It is known for its magnificent travertine waterfalls that create clear lakes and as a result of this process, a series of 16 staggered larger lakes and several smaller ones were created, which are the most picturesque part of this magnificent Park.
A large number of different plant species are registered in the Park. In the rich fauna, a special place is occupied by the biggest European beasts: brown bear , wolf and lynx . Due to its uniqueness and natural beauty, UNESCO included the Plitvice Lakes in the World Natural Heritage List in 1979.
