SHORT DESCRIPTION: Experience Karlovac at the end of the 19th century, at a time

DURATION: 2 hours
MEETING PLACE: at the Katzler pavilion at the beginning of Radićeva Street
ITINERARY: starting point is at the Katzler pavilion at the beginning of Radićeva Street,
and then we tour J.J. Strossmayer square, Ban J.Jelačić square, Vrbanićev Perivoj, waterfall
on the Korana (“turbine”) and along the elementary school Dragojle Jarnjević and Radićeva
street back to the pavilion Katzler.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION: I will intertwine the unusual and very inspiring life story of
the great inventor and visionary Nikola Tesla with the discovery of significant events in the
history of our city at a time when Tesla was our fellow citizen. It was in the second half of the
19th century that Karlovac lived through its "golden age" and in many ways was the most
developed city in Croatia. In addition to historical facts about Nikola Tesla and Karlovac, I
will tell some perhaps already forgotten Karlovac stories, legends and anecdotes, as well as
unusual curiosities from the life of a great scientist.
I want to show the visitors of my city that Karlovac is an ideal city tailored to man, but also to
make my fellow citizens of Karlovac aware that they live in an extremely interesting city that
they can be permanently proud of, as I am proud.
